June Pals Blog Hop

Follow Me on Pinterest

Welcome to the Pals New Catalog Blog Hop! The Stampin' Pretty Pals are excited to share some fabulous cards and projects showcasing our favorite products from the new Stampin' Up! Catalog! You've probably hopped over from Marian Kay at All Aboard the Crafting Train, I'm stop number 13 on the Pals Hop and I'm glad you hopped in! I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for new Stampin' Up! products from the Stampin' Pretty Pals! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you'll be back on track!

I wanted to showcase my favorite new In Color Summer Starfruit for the hop this month. I just love the tone of this yellow! From there I checked my Color Coach and it suggested I use Elegant Eggplant as a complimentary color. Really???? Wow! I'm just in love with this combination now and I never would have put it together on my own! I really enjoy that Stampin' Up! provides such wonderful resources for creativity! I thought I would just add a bit of Elegant Eggplant using the rick rack pattern on the Tasteful Trims Bigz Die so I ran the cardstock through my Big Shot and then tucked it behind one of the patterns from the Comfort Cafe DSP.

Another new item I used for the first time on this card is the You're Amazing stamp set. The sentiment I chose fits perfectly in one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies...so easy to use! For a bit more texture, I used one of the patterns from the brand new Essentials Paper Piercing Pack and my new Paper Piercing Tool to punch a matching pattern on my label. Everything coordinates! Lastly, I fussy cut the ballons from the You're Amazing stamp set to use as an embellishment and popped them up with Dimensionals. The detail on these ballons is incredible! Oh, and a few rhinestones for a bit of bling. Even a simple card deserves some bling, right?

Mojo Monday #244 - Patio Party Happy Birthday

Follow Me on Pinterest

I was excited today to use products from the Patio Party Suite that I was able to earn for free during Sale-a-bration. Even the cardstock color is new! It is one of the new 2012-14 In Colors Raspberry Ripple and I have to say it is a truly stunning color! The blue on the card is another of the new In-Colors Midnight Muse. These new In Colors have such a deep vibrancy to them. So yummy!

When I put this card together I decided to follow the sketch exactly and my vision was for a crisp card that could be used for a masculine birthday. I also broke out the new Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and the new Bitty Banners Framelits. The image stamped perfectly with my new foam pads and the framelits were a dream to use. I was worried that the framelits might wiggle when going through the Big Shot and that my image would be askew, but I had no trouble at all. Easy Peasy! (Sorry, I couldn't restrain myself).

I had fun with this sketch and am pleased with how the card turned out...just gotta love all the coordinating products! Please pop over and see other cards created with this sketch at Mojo Monday - The Blog.

Stampin' Write Markers Class

Follow Me on Pinterest

Hi There! I just wanted to check in today at the conclusion of a wonderful afternoon of stamping! I held a class today that focused on different ways of using Stampin' Write Markers. I decided to showcase the stamp set Easy Events as it works great for using markers and is well suited to a variety of cards. This is a GREAT starter set!

On this card we colored the stamped image (for best result always use Staz-On ink) directly with our markers. I just LOVE the combination of Calypso Coral and Pool Party, the just seem like the perfect summer colors! (Card design CASE'd from Linda Barttolucci)

I hope you can see that we also added a bit of Dazzing Details (glitter adhesive) to the cherry and the cake stand for a bit of glitz. The shimmer sure packs a lot of WOW punch!

For our second card we used our Stampin' Write Markers and a Blender Pen to achieve a watercolored effect. This card features one of our new 2012-2014 In-Colors Raspberry Ripple together with one of our 2011-2013 In Colors Lucky Limeade. I think they look great together! (Card design CASE'd from Mindy Backes)

Our last card focused on using the Stampin' Write Markers to color directly onto the stamp which allows us to apply more than one color at once. A few Basic Pearls add a big WOW factor to this card. I can't wait for someone to get married so I can use this card! (card design CASE'd)

If you would like to learn more about these or other techniques please check out my events schedule!

Please do not adjust your computer monitor! The pig really is THAT pink! lol

This card was inspired by and created for the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge.

This card came together in just a matter of minutes for me this week. Once I saw the sketch, the pig from the stamp set 'Button Buddies' came right to mind, in PINK. Melon Mambo to be exact. There he was, stuck in my head, so I pulled out some DSP (Designer Series Paper) that I have be dying to use since it came out (it retires on May 31st so I got in just under the wire!). The polka dot theme just evolved from there...it's kind of amazing how many polka dot products Stampin' Up! has available to choose from! And I decided to use them ALL! Who could blame me? I'm really luvin' my little polka dot piggy, he cracks me up because he is just SO outside of my comfort zone!

I hope he inspires you to pull out paper and ink!

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Button Buddies, Petite Pairs

DSP: Cheerful Treat, Brights & 2011-2013 In-Color Designer Series Paper Stacks

Ink Color: Melon Mambo, Lucky Limeade

Cardstock: Melon Mambo

Tools: 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon in MM, 3/8" Designer Printed Brads, Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die, Big Shot, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Stamping Sponges

Going in Circles...

Follow Me on Pinterest

This is the second card we will be making in my 'Simple Stamping' class this week. The class is held at work on our lunch hour so in order to get two cards done in an hour we need to keep them simple. But simple does not have to be plain! Thanks need to go out to Jen Timko for reminding me that simple shapes can come together to create a work of art.

I wanted to showcase one of Stampin' Up!'s new Designer Series Paper 'Comfort Cafe' which will be available in the new catalog which will be released on June 1st! This paper is my new favorite so plan on seeing lots of samples with it! The cardstock used is 'Midnight Muse', one of the 2012-2014 In-Colors from the new catalog. For this card I used just about all of my circle punches to punch circles of different sizes and then arranged them on the Very Vanilla cardstock until I was happy. I adhered the circles to the Very Vanilla cardstock (I let one of the circles hang over the edge for added interest) and then ran that layer through my Big Shot using the Houndstooth embossing folder. I adhered that layer to the Midnoght Muse cardstock using Sticky Tape (embossed layers always needs a bit more adhesion). I stamped my sentiment using my new ink pad in Midnight Muse. The new ink pads are the BOMB!! Just one little tap with my stamp and I had a very beautiful clean image on my Very Vanilla cardstock. I also stamped the companion phrase to the inside of the card so that the entire sentiment reads 'So many smiles...begin with you'. I punched the sentiment out with my 1 1/4" circle punch and layered it onto a Midnight Muse circle punched with my 1 3/8" punch, adhered a Dimensional to the back and attached it to my card front. Then I adhered the card front to the card base and voila! I have a super clean and modern looking card in under 20 minutes! EZ Peasy!

The 'Petite Pairs' stamp set I used here has lots of options for changing the sentiment, expanding the possibilities for this simple card. You could easily swap out the DSP as well to make it masculine, kid and teenager friendly, even grandma friendly! You could also re-oriente the card to landscape. I just see LOTS of options with this layout!

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Petite Pairs

DSP: Comfort Cafe (available June 1st)

Ink Color: Midnight Muse

Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla

Tools: Circle Punches: 1 3/4", 1 3/8", 1 1/4", 1", 1/2", Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Big Shot
