Pearly Papillon

Follow Me on Pinterest

Happy Labor Day! I hope you have been able to carve out some creative time on this long holiday weekend in between BBQ's and family events! My husband and I took some time yesterday for a long drive topped off by dinner 'a la fresca' with live music and a gentle sea breeze...heaven!!

Today I am back in my stamping room with a project inspired by fellow Pals Naki and Nina's Double Dare Challenge #3. This week the Double Dare Challenge was to create a project using butterflies and Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper. Hmmm, that is an interesting combination!

EZ Design Tips:

  • Pair a vibrant pattern paper with muted colors to emphasize softness, in this case Basic Gray and just a touch of More Mustard
  • The romantic Flowering Flourishes stamp set adds even more softness to the design

  • A butterfly stamped with Papillon Potpourri and punched with the matching Elegant Butterfly Punch and popped up with a dimensional adds visual interest
  • Basic Pearls add the finishing layer of softness

I just love the Flexibilities of Stampin' Up!'s designs in that I was able to take a pattern paper that one would normally associate with Halloween and make it soft and romantic.

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Flowering Flourishes (126367), Papillon Potpourri (123759)

Paper: Basic Gray (121045), More Mustard (100946), Very Vanilla (101650) Cardstock; Howlstooth and Scaringbone (126906), Regals Designer Series Paper Stack (117154)

Ink: Basic Gray (126981), More Mustard (126964), Pumpkin Pie (126945) Classic Stampin' Pad

Tools: Elegant Butterfly Punch (127526)

Embellishments: Pearl Basic Jewels (119247), 1/2" More Mustard Scallop Dots Ribbon (124140)

A Little Bit of Good - Freshly Made Sketches #50

Follow Me on Pinterest

The group over at Freshly Made Sketches does a wonderful job coming up with clean and simple designs and this week's sketch by Lesley Croghan is no exception!

EZ Design Ideas:

  • I chose richer colors and mixed patterns up for a deeper, but still cheerful combination to reflect the change in seasons
  • The cute little flower was punched out three times and layered with a dimensional between each flower with the petals offset just a bit to create depth and interest

  • The twine wrapped in the center of the flower coordinates with a simple bow across the bottom of the sentiment layer and gives the layout a bit of 'jazz'

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Pursuit of Happiness (121970)

Paper: Crumb Cake (120953), Very Vanilla (101650) Cardstock; Orchard Harvest (126895), International Bazaar (126920) Designer Series Paper

Ink: Island Indigo Classic Stampin' Pad (126986)

Tools: Big Shot (113439), Blossom Party Originals Die (115971)

Embellishments:  Linen Thread (104199), Naturals Designer Buttons (127554)

Hello Baby - Freshly Made Sketches #49

Follow Me on Pinterest

Today's card is a little gem created using a wonderful sketch by Jen Mitchell over a Freshly Made Sketches:

So clean and simple! My card came together in no time at all and I just love how the colors work together:

I wanted to create a gender neutral baby card and this striped pattern paper from the Birds of a Feather Designer Paper Series worked perfectly for me! I chose soft complimenting colors from various papers and used my 3/16" corner punch to add a tad more softness to the card. A bit of Primrose Petals cardstock just peeking out is a nice compliment to the soft colors. The zig-zag was created using my Finishing Touches Edgelits Dies and the circles were created with my 1" circle punch. That's it!

Design note: I used a bit of post it tape to tack the zig zag edgelit die to the cardstock so it wouldn't move during the cutting process.

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Sweet Essentials

Paper: Primrose Petals, Sahara Sand, Bashful Blue, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White CS; Birds of a Feather, Patio Party, Twitterpated DSP

Ink: Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad

Tools: Big Shot, Finishing Touches Edgelits Die, 1" Circle Punch, 3/16" Corner Punch

Embellishments:  None

Birthday Bloom

Follow Me on Pinterest

Hi There! Thanks for popping in! Today was a long headachy day so at the end of it I found some 'me' time in my craft room and made something bright and cheery to end the day on a positive note!

For this card I utilized one of my new favorite stamps set, Blooming with Kindness, my new Window Frames Collection Framelits Die and some cheery designer paper from the Floral District Designer Paper Series. This card came together so easily! I just love how the colors pop off the Wisteria Wonder cardstock:) I used my Finishing Touches Edgelits Die to add a bit of softness between the DSP and the card base. A bit of bling, some sponging, and an appropriate sentiment and that's it (wait for it)...ez peasy!!

The layout for this card came together in minutes and is so versatile, change the colors, papers, sentiment for an endless assortment of cards!

Note: I always add a bit of matching or coordinating DSP on the envelope flap, so that the recipient has a taste of what's inside. The paper is just so pretty I can't help but add it to everything!

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Blooming with Kindness, Bring on the Cake

Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White CS; Floral District DSP

Ink: Rose Red

Tools: Big Shot, Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies, Finishing Touches Edgelits Die

Embellishments:  Rhinestones Basic Jewels
