Happy Birthday Mom!

Follow Me on Pinterest

Yep! You guessed it, today is my mother's 70th birthday! What a milestone! Here is the card I made and sent to her as unfortunately she is on the opposite side of the country from me :(

I know my mother likes yellow roses so I used the color Daffodil Delight as my starting point. I found this delightful piece of Attic Heirlooms retired Designer Series Paper that I have been saving (hoarding) for a special occasion. Its cheerful color and print is just perfect for my mother. A very special paper for a very special lady!

I used the matching Adorning Accents Embossing Folder and Edgelits to add a soft edge to the piece of Baja Breeze Designer Series Paper. Baja Breeze is a nice compliment to the Daffodil Delight and lots of white space help keep the color combination from being overpowering.

I wish my mom the most wonderful birthday ever and I hope she enjoys her card (and the "gift" tucked inside!)

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Memorable Moments (126682)

Paper: Whisper White (100730), Daffodil Delight (119683), Baja Breeze (111352) Cardstock; Foral District (126919) and Attic Heirlooms (Retired) Designer Series Paper

Ink: Baja Breeze (126960) Classic Stampin' Pad

Tools: Big Shot (113439), Fancy Fan (127751) and Adorning Accents (125601) Embossing Folders; Adorning Accents Edgelits (125595), Stampin' Trimmer (126889)

Embellishments:  3/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Daffodil Delight (Retired), Rhinestone Basic Jewels (11926)

Hello Dear Friend - Freshly Made Sketches #75

Follow Me on Pinterest

Wow! It's been awhile since I last played along with the gang over at Freshly Made Sketches! I feel like I've gotten Valentine's Day out of my system and I'm ready to move to spring! Lol, we don't have much of a winter in Southern California but it's going to be a glorious weekend here and with it's bright colors, this card is a reflection of that!

First the sketch:

And here is what I created with it:

EZ Design Ideas:

  • Find inspiration in everyday things! My color palette came straight out of a decorating magazine...I figured if it will work for my living room, it will work for my card!

  • I repeated both the yellow and the blue three times on this card, creating a visual 'triangle'
  • I pierced a subtle design onto opposite corners of my design layer for added interest

  • I sponged the edges of the blossoms and used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop them off the card
  • The sentiment is adhered on the right with a glue dot, a Stampin' Dimensional in the middle to give it lift, and a slight flare on the banner end to pop it off the page
  • Just a few pearls add a perfect amount of jewelry
  • I love to line the envelope with either matching or coordinating DSP...it gives the recipient just a taste of what's to come!

I would love to hear your comments!

Just Love - CCMC-005

Follow Me on Pinterest

I have not quite put Valentine's Day behind me...I've been spending my creative time making Valentine's Day/Love You cards to send next year to the troops when I came across this delightful sketch from Create with Connie and Mary. The sketch they provided was just for their design team but I did not let that deter me!

I instantly 'saw' a card in my head and sat down to create this:

This was a very simple card to create, almost straight from my first vision! I used one of the images from the Oh Hello stamp set in Basic Gray and ran it through my Big Shot with the new Oval Framelit Dies (which I purchased together to save a bit of $$ - Oh Hello Bundle #131101). I used my new Hearts a Flutter Bundle to stamp and cut out my cute little heart shape-so simple to use!

I created the littlest heart by stamping the heart image from the new Best of Love stamp set in Pool Party and strategically punching it out with my small heart punch. I also had a chance to break out the new Needlepoint Border Embossing Folders-love the stitching detail! The little valley between the embossed stitching and the embossed scallop made a PERFECT spot to run a bit of baker's twine - I think it was made for that!! The sentiment is from the Best of Love stamp set as well...I'm loving that stamp set!

I hope you have enjoyed today's project, I would love it if you left me a comment letting me know what you think...I read and cherish your comments!

Be My Valentine

Follow Me on Pinterest

Today's project is a CASE of a card I found online. I saved the image which wasn't watermarked so unfortunately I cannot give credit to the designer but I loved the card so much I just HAD to make my own with my own colors and papers!

I just love how all the papers coordinate! Hmmm...have I said that before? lol!

EZ Design Ideas

There aren't many elements to this design which is why it works so well. A few pieces punched with a square punch, sponging on the edges, and hearts punch out of glimmer paper for jewelry! One line scored with the Stampin' Trimmer and a well chosen sentiment and that's it! EZ Peasy!

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes (127802)

Paper: Whisper White (100730), Real Red (102482) Cardstock; More Amore (129309) Specialty Designer Series Paper, Red Glimmer Paper (121790)

Ink: Real Red (126949) Classic Stampin' Pad

Tools: Stampin' Trimmer (126889), 1" Square Punch (124094), Small Heart Punch (117193), Stamping Sponges (101610)

Embellishments:  None

Monochromatic Thank You - PPA151

Follow Me on Pinterest

Today I am playing along with the Pals Paper Arts Challenge and an awesome new sketch!

I struggled with this one just a bit and my end result is nothing like my original idea! It's funny when that happens... Here is what I came up with:

In my mind when I looked at the sketch I saw one of the circles as an image and the smaller circle as a sentiment so I was STUMPED on what to put in the left hand corner! I finally settled on making a banner out of pearls and I think it adds a bit of softness to the otherwise very clean and simple card.

I have to laugh because I realize that I have used this image more than once! I must really like it!

Stampin Supplies:

Stamps: Blooming with Kindness (126422)

Paper: Very Vanilla(101650),  Lucky Limeade (126984) Cardstock; Tea for Two (129311) Designer Series Paper

Ink: Lucky Limeade (126984) Classic Stampin' Pad

Tools: 1 1/4" Circle Punch (119861), 1 3/8" Circle Punch (119860), 3" Circle Die (122125), Big Shot (113439)
